Another good blog to keep up with general absinthe news (besides InAbsinthia of course!) is Lucid Absinthe's blog. While naturally centered on their brand(s), they also do a good job of more general absinthe news and notes. A recent post featured founder and absinthe chef Ted Breaux in pictures and words, while another one shows a couple classic absinthe-related paintings and quotes, including this beautiful one from Dowson's classic "Absinthia Taetra":

And here is a link to aforementioned Absinthe Salon. As far as we know, there are no places locally that specialize in absinthe, although I do believe there are a few places that have fountains and serve absinthe. We have been to bars that serve absinthe sans the fountain, but that isn't quite the same, is it?

Sounds like a business opportunity to me!

Interesting article on visiting the first "dedicated" absinthe bar in Australia, called The Absinthe Salon in Sydney. She tries 3(!) absinthes and wants to try more, but is dissuaded from that mistake. I don't know about you, but even three absinthes are more than enough for us. But it was a nice selection of absinthes, from Francios Guy to Eichelberger and finally wrapping it up with a favorite here at InAbsinthia, Jade's Edouard.

Thankfully, the writer avoids most of the clichés and correctly describes the process, with nary a mention of flames. It is unfortunate that it uses the absinthe / absent homophone, but what can you do?

New Orleans absinthe maker Atelier Vie is finally branching out from Louisiana. Maybe in an effort to relax regulations even more, their red absinthe is now available in Washngton DC, at Federal Spirits.

Now that's something we haven't tried yet, a red absinthe. There are a few Spanish ones and a growing number of ones made in the United States, as well as Eastern Europe. Have you tried any yet?
